About the Social Science Research Centre

The mission of the UCD Social Science Research Centre is to facilitate and support research excellence and interdisciplinary research collaboration in the College of Human Sciences, and to strengthen UCD’s national and international profile in social science research.

The SSRC was founded in 1961, originally focused on the promotion and development of research in sociology, social policy and social work. Today, the SSRC's scope is broader, bringing together researchers from a wide variety of disciplines across UCD, including sociology, politics, education, law, history, psychology, social work and social policy, to develop UCD social scientists' disciplinary and interdisciplinary networks and linkages, to support and stimulate PhD social science research, and to enhance UCD's prominence and visibility in global social science scholarship.
