Clubs & Societies
There are over 100 Clubs & Societies registered with the Students’ Union ranging from sports to academic interests. You can join any of these Clubs & Societies during Freshers’ Week (second week of Autumn term) at their stands in the Arts/Commerce Building. This is a very important aspect of student life in the College. The selection and variety of the different Clubs and Societies is huge, and no matter what your interests there will probably be a group that caters for you. There are many events going on every day to choose from - a match, a film, concert, play or a party. Joining clubs and societies is the best way to meet people in UCD - and most sports clubs cater for beginners. Visit UCD Clubs and Societies on the WWW.

For further information on Societies, please contact:

Students’ Union
Every student is a member of the Students’ Union which represents, and provides for, its members. The Union runs well-stocked shops in the Library, Science and Engineering Buildings and in Earlsfort Terrace; a second-hand bookshop; the ‘Trap’ Games Room; a typing and photocopying service; discos and gigs. The Union also offers advisory services in education, welfare, employment and accommodation matters as well as a counselling service. Its newspaper, the University Observer, is a regular publication distributed free of charge to students. Central to a student’s social life in University is the Students’ Club which runs regular events and provides a games, bar and video service. The Student Centre, which is paid for and run by students, is the location for the Union offices along with retail facilities, an auditorium, a new bar and facilities for clubs and societies. Certain Union services, including the copying service, are located in the corridor off the Library Tunnel.

Freshers’ Week provides the opportunity to sign up for any of the Union’s activities. In addition, class representative elections take place early in the first term. All students are encouraged to get involved.

For further information on the Students' Union including contact details for all Student Officers please visit UCD Students' Union web site.
