UCD student cards(UCARD)

Will I be allowed to sit an exam if I don't have my UCARD ?
Yes. However, you will have to complete a Breach of Examination Regulations form and an identity check may be carried out by an invigilator. A €50 penalty will be applied to your UCD fees account.

What happens if I lose my UCARD - where can I get a replacement card?
You will be permitted to sit your exams. However, you will have to complete a Breach of Examination Regulations form and an identity check may be carried out by an invigilator. A €50 penalty will be applied to your UCD fees account.

It is important that you report a lost or stolen UCARD immediately to the UCARD Office in the Library Building. Replacement cards may be obtained at the UCard Bureau, James Joyce Library Building, Belfield, Dublin 4. There is a fee of €30 for replacing lost cards.

What happens if I forget my UCARD ?

If I have another exam on the same day or I cannot get a replacement UCARD before my next exam, will I be charged again?
No, however you will have to complete a Breach of Examination Regulations form and an identity check may be carried out at your next examination. You are strongly advised to obtain your UCARD . Visit the UCard Bureau for more information on getting a replacement card.

What do I do if I have not received my external funding for 2014/15 and therefore I am unable to obtain my UCARD ?
You will be permitted to sit your exams. However, you will have to complete a Breach of Examination Regulations form and an identity check may be carried out by an invigilator. A €50 penalty will be applied to your UCD fees account, however, the penalty will be automatically removed from your account on receipt of confirmation of your external funding.

What happens if I can't get to the UCard Bureau to replace my card before my next exam?
You will have to complete a Breach of Examination Regulations form and an identity check may be carried out by an invigilator. You are strongly advised to obtain your UCARD . Visit the UCard Bureau for more information on getting a replacement card.

What happens if I leave my UCARD behind me in the exam centre?
All UCARD s will be retained in the Examination Centre in which it was left until the end of the examination session. If you have further examinations, you should arrange to collect your UCARD immediately from the Examination Centre.

If I lose my UCARD in the exam centre is there a lost property office where I can collect it?
You should speak to one of the exam helpers in the exam centre.

What if my UCARD is stolen on the day of or during my exams?
See the UCard Bureau website for details of replacing your card. If a penalty has been applied to your account you will need to fill out a Garda report form which is available from any Garda station and bring it to the Student Desk, Tierney Building, Belfield Dublin 4 in person within 60 days of the end of the examination session. The €50 will subsequently be removed from your account.

Where can I get a new UCARD ?
UCD student cards are available from the UCard Bureau, James Joyce Library, Belfield, Dublin 4.

If I forget my UCARD , will my passport, driving licence or other form of photo ID be accepted as a form of identity?
No. As per University examination regulations candidates are required to be in possession of their UCARD , which should be displayed on their desk.

How do I pay the €50 penalty if I am found to be in breach of this regulation?
An online payment facility is available on SIS Student Web. You may also request a bank giro payment form from the Student Desk, UCD Registry, Tierney Building, Belfield, Dublin 4.

How can I appeal this penalty?
If you believe you have grounds for appeal, you must submit an appeal within 60 days of the end of the exam session.

Appeals should be sent by email to assessment@ucd.ie from your UCD Connect email account.

How will I know if my appeal has been successful?
You will receive an email to your UCD Connect email account.

Mobile phones/electronic communication devices

Is there somewhere I can leave my mobile phone?
Yes. A cloakroom will be available in the RDS exam centre and a secure room is available in both the Blackrock exam centre as well as the Newman Building.

What happens if I bring my phone in by mistake and the alarm goes off or it rings?
If your mobile phone is activated or if you are seen to be using a mobile phone, it will immediately be confiscated by the invigilator and a €50 penalty will be applied to your UCD Fees account.

If my phone is confiscated in the exam centre, where and when can I collect it?
You will receive an email to your UCD Connect email account informing you when your phone is ready for collection.

How do I pay the €50 penalty if I am found to be in breach of this regulation?
