The UCD Career Development Centre (CDC) provides programmes and services that enhance students’ personal and professional development. For example, through credit- bearing modules on personal and professional development, through non-credit bearing Certificates in Skills for Working Life and in Work-Related Learning, though personalised career coaching services and through skills development workshops in areas such as effective presentation skills, team work and leadership, emotional intelligence and projecting a professional image.
Students engaged with UCD Volunteers Overseas have an opportunity to achieve the City and Guilds Professional Recognition Award, an internationally recognized qualification in personal and professional development.
Labour market intelligence and opportunity awareness are critical to students’ success in securing internships and graduate jobs. Throughout the year, the CDC organizes around 120 employer-led recruitment presentations on campus, sources and advertises 1000’s of internship and graduate vacancies (inc.graduate study opportunities and funding) and organises the most extensive range of bespoke Career and Recruitment Fairs in Ireland. Attended by 1000’s of UCD students annually, these top class events attract leading national and international recruiters, serving as a key route for UCD students engaging in career progression.
