CAMPUS CAR PARKING
|
UCD is one of the largest journey generators in the Greater Dublin Area and is committed to the ongoing development of a sustainable commuting strategy. This includes the introduction of car parking demand management to promote a shift away from car journeys and towards sustainable transport modes.
What you need to know
From September 2015, a permit car parking system will be in operation on the Belfield and Blackrock campuses to ensure that car parking is only used by members of the University community and as a means of controlling demand.
From mid-August eligible students will be able to apply online for a parking permit for the academic year 2015/16. The UCD Parking Permit will be an electronic permit based on the car registration number and will cost €50 for the academic year. Purchase of a permit will not guarantee a parking space on campus. UCD Parking permits must be used in designated car parks and will not be valid in hourly paid parking spaces. Parking charges apply (8am-5pm, Monday – Friday, excluding bank holidays) during Semester 1 and Semester 2. Outside of these hours, all car parking is free of charge. Full details will be sent to you when the parking permit application system opens.
Parking fees will be used to provide further facilities and services to enhance commuting to and connectivity on campus. For example, UCD currently provides a subsidised DART shuttle bus to Sydney Parade, during term time and is looking at the feasibility of a subsidised LUAS shuttle bus to Windy Arbour on the LUAS Green Line.
