|The UCD School of Education will host an informal information meeting for those interested in pursuing a career as a secondary school teacher. The Professional Master of Education (PME) programme is a two-year, full time course designed to equip students with the necessary skills and aptitudes to work in Irish schools and further afield.
The programme will be discussed in detail on Monday 7 November at 5pm in Theatre O, Newman building. All final year students who may be interested in a career in secondary school teaching are very welcome to attend. For more information, check out the website.

|UCD Chaplaincy have launched a new initiative,
Plunge, which provides a holistic approach to caring for the emotional well-being of our students through physical exercise (surfing) and social interaction. A group will travel to the North Coast for this Surf and Silence retreat on Friday 18 November to Sunday 20 November.|

|UCD Students' Union will host a campus-wide referendum on Wednesday 2 November and Thursday 3 November to give students their say on whether the Students’ Union should remain pro-choice or adopt a new neutral stance on the abortion issue. Check out the webpage for details on how to vote.|
|The UCDVO Annual Conference will take place on Saturday 26 November from 10am - 5pm and will look at the impact of international volunteering on personal and professional lives, as well as highlighting tangible opportunities for students, graduates and returned volunteers to pursue further studies and careers in the development sector.|
|8x8 is a festival shaped and designed by students that is touring third level campuses all over Ireland this autumn.
This year the focus is on the global refugee crisis and migration. We'll put a face on the crisis and challenge our global perspective through photo exhibits, inspirational documentary films, and in-depth discussion panels from some incredible people who are taking action.
The free festival will visit UCD this week from 1-4 November including events such as the screening of award-winning documentary Salam Neighbour and a Campus Challenge evening on what UCD can do to help. Event details and free tickets can be found here.

|As the UCD Library Book Care campaign comes to an end, we encourage all students to take a look at our guide to caring for books and to also pick up a free bag at the Information Desks in each of our libraries. We hope that this awareness campaign will improve how the books on loan from our collection are returned to us in the future.|
|A 12-person international student team will travel from Ireland to Shanghai on Wednesday 2 November, to represent UCD in the Asian Gaelic Games. The team is comprised of women from six countries including Germany, Spain, the USA, the Philippines, the Netherlands and Vietnam. We wish all the participants best of luck in the competition.|
|This interfaith gathering will explore the issue of human suffering and provide an opportunity to share together the wisdom of our respective traditions in the spirit of openness and tolerance. All students are welcome to attend so we look forward to seeing you there on Thursday 3 November at 4pm in St. Stephen's Chaplaincy.|
|The UCD Writing Centre provides a free service to all students wishing to improve their writing skills and can offer advice and guidance on the written assignments you are currently working on. We can give you strategies on how to research, draft, plan, structure, phrase, edit and much more. No need to book, just drop in between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, Monday-Thursday, or 11am - 1pm on Fridays. And it’s free!|
|UCD Snowsports are holding a clothes drive on Wednesday, 16 November in aid of a Chernobyl Children’s Charity in the Atrium of the UCD School of Law from 10am until 4.30pm. Please donate any old warm clothes you may have, including scarves, hats, gloves, hoodies, jackets, woolly socks, etc. It only takes five minutes to drop something up to the School of Law and it will keep a child warm through a harsh winter in Chernobyl.
