FAQ

How do I book a Start Time?
If you are an Undergraduate student you will be able to book a Start Time through your SISWeb account:

  • Check Key Dates to find out when you can book your Registration Start Time.
  • On the date specified in Key Dates, log into your SISWeb account and click on the Book a Start Time button. You will be brought to the Your Start Time for Registration page and offered the earliest Start Time available. If you are happy with this time, simply exit the page. However, if you wish to pick a later time you will be given the option to do so.
  • You will then receive an email to your UCD Connect account confirming your Start Time. This is the time from which you may begin your online module registration. For example, if your Start Time is 9.30am on 15 August you may begin registering to modules at any stage from then.
  • Begin your online registration once it opens for you in August. Dates will be available on Key Dates.

If you are a Graduate Taught, Occasional or UG Certificate/Diploma student then you will be automatically allocated a Start Time. You will receive an email to your UCD Connect account confirming your Start Time.

Graduate Research students do not need to book a Start Time.

Where can I check my Start Time?
  • Once you book/are allocated your Start Time you will see it on the Your Start Time for Registration page in your SISWeb.
  • You will also receive an automated email to your UCD Connect account confirming your Start Time
  • Once the Online Registration system opens you will be able to see your Start Time on the Welcome and Summary pages there.

What is the duration of my Start Time?
Start Times are open ended so you can begin your registration at any stage from the date/time confirmed in your email. Do try to start your registration as soon as possible to give yourself the best chance of getting the modules you want.

I’ve logged into SIS Web but I don’t see the Book a Start Time button?
The Book a Start Time button will be available from the end of July (depending on your programme). Check Key Dates for the exact dates.

What are the advantages of having a Start Time?
You will know exactly what date/time you may start module registration from (no getting up at 5:30am to see if the system is open). You will also have the convenience of being able do all parts of your registration, including picking Electives, in one go if you wish.

What happens if I don’t book a Start Time?
If you do not book a Start Time during the selection window, one will be allocated to you and you will receive an email, detailing your Start Time. To give yourself the best chance of getting the modules you want we would strongly advise you to book your Start Time as early as possible.

If I’m not happy with the Start Time I’ve been given what can I do?
When you first log into SISWeb to book a Start Time you will be offered the earliest time available. You may choose a different time if you wish but it will most likely be a later one.

Please note:
  • Start Times will only be changed in the event of an error in allocation
  • Start Times cannot be changed by staff at the Student Desk, Programme Offices or School Offices
  • Start Times cannot be swapped between students. A Start Time is particular to an individual student

If I get a later Start Time does that mean that those who got in ahead of me will have an advantage?
Places in Option modules and In-programme Electives are, as always, ‘first come, first served’ so if you have an earlier Start Time you may well have a better chance.

However, access to Start Times has been designed with fairness of competition in mind. Students who need to compete for the same modules will compete for the same Start Times.

I have already made travel plans and won’t be here when I have to book my Start Time. Can I do it earlier?
This will not be possible but remember that your Start Time can be booked via your SISWeb so as long as you have access to the internet on the day you can do it from wherever you are.

Will you be sending an email to remind me of my Start Time?
No, but you will receive a confirmation email when you first book your Start Time - don’t delete it! You will also see your Start Time when you log into SISWeb.

I am on a leave of absence from UCD. Where can I find out information about the new Registration Start Times?
UCD Registry will send you an email in June with important information regarding your return this September, including Start Times. Also, check UCD Connect and the UCD Registry Facebook page for updates.

I am an Undergraduate repeating a stage – how will I know when to book my Start Time?
You will go online to book your Start Time at the same time as students in the stage you are repeating. Check Key Dates for dates. For example, if you are repeating Stage 1 then you will go online with the incoming Stage 1 Undergraduates.

Once you book your Start Time you will receive a confirmation email to your UCD Connect account.

Please note that if you do not book a Start Time during the selection window then one will be allocated to you. To give yourself the best chance of getting the modules you want we would advise you to book your Start Time as early as possible.
