The impact and importance of what you do with your degrees cannot be understated”

In his address to the 2009 graduates of Science, and Actuarial and Financial Studies, and of Higher Degrees of Science, Professor Cormac Taylor shared his personal experience as a UCD graduate. He commended travel to the graduates and told how his UCD degree and PhD prepared him for postgraduate work in Harvard Medical School.

Pharmacologist Cormac Taylor’s work in the UCD Conway Institute and UCD School of Medicine and Medical Science currently focuses on developing an innovative intestinal model of drug uptake and an enhanced drug delivery system. The programme looks at the areas of infection, immunity and inflammation.

Professor Taylor is also working along with Professor Walter Kolch in Systems Biology Ireland, launched in September 2009. Read more about the work of Systems Biology at UCD, which aims to enable quicker and better treatments of a range of medical conditions, including various cancers, and should allow for better therapies to be delivered more effectively to patients.
