Doctors & Nurses

Our doctors and nurses are available for urgent and routine appointments and must be booked in advance. All consultations are treated in strict confidence. No information is given to others without the student’s prior permission. If you would specifically like to arrange an appointment with a male or female staff member, please let us know at time of booking.

The Student Health Centre operates within resource constraints so we encourage students from Dublin to continue to use their own GP. We also request that you only book one of our urgent slots when you are acutely unwell or distressed and not for ongoing problems. We endeavour to see as many students as possible however we may not be able to see everyone who requests a same day appointment.

Blood Tests

If you require a blood test, please first book a consultation with a doctor.

Your first prescription for contraception must be issued by a doctor. Follow up consultations for renewal of prescriptions may be made with the nurse.

Please note you cannot attend the nurse for a prescription unless you have previously seen a doctor in the Student Health Centre for your contraception.

STI Tests

STI Clinics are available by appointment only in the Student Health Centre for students who want to undergo a routine test or for those who are experiencing symptoms of an STI.

There is a nurse-led clinic on a Tuesday & Wednesday morning for those who require routine STI screening and have no acute symptoms. There is a €40 charge. Please see attached sheet for further information on nurse led STI Clinic - Nurse Led Sexual Health

For those experiencing symptoms and who require a prescription, screenings take place on Wednesday mornings and are led by a doctor. There is a €60 charge for the doctor's clinic.

  • You will be examined and a swab test will be taken.
  • All patients will be offered a blood test, but it may not be necessary in every case.
