Assessment Redesign Project 03.02.12
Building on the outcomes of the First Year Assessment Project (2010/11) UCD Teaching & Learning, working with the programme deans, is leading a major project to focus on the strategic redesign of first year assessment. Programmes/subject areas participating in the project are:
• Architecture
• Physics
• Radiography
• Social Science
• Veterinary Medicine
The aim of the project is the redesign and development of assessments that encourage active, high quality student learning whilst also being most time-efficient for staff, streamlining staff workload associated with designing assessment, grading and giving feedback. Through a series of workshops, the assessment redesign process will start with the educational goals or outcomes of a programme and identify how best to support their achievement in terms of the range, volume and timing of assessment methods to be used in first year modules. Redesigning assessment approaches will be informed by the
First Year Assessment Design Principles and agreed changes will be implemented for incoming first year students in 2012/13. Concurrently, the
UCD Fellows in Teaching & Academic Development 2011-2013, are conducting a university-wide project on “Enhancing Assessment Practices”, it is expected that the outcomes of this work will inform the Assessment Redesign Project. For further information see the
Assessment Redesign Project Page.
