New BA LinkedUP Website Launched 27.02.12

Arts is particularly challenging in terms of engagement due to the very large size of the programme.  This also makes communications challenging.  The new BA LinkedUP website was launched in February by Elena Gamble the Student Engagement Officer.  It uses web technology to provide a visually recognisable one stop shop from which to promote all engagement activities, academic & social. There are accompanying Twitter and Facebook pages.

One of the key aims of the site is to foster engagement and a sense of belonging within the Arts programme with a focus on first year and the transition into university for Arts students.

Key areas of content include a week by week guide of what students should do with their time for each semester.  All available supports are highlighted including peer mentoring, IT support, the Library, the Maths Support Centre, academic writing clinics, student advisors and the Career Development Office to name  a few.

The site also features BA school initiatives such as academic mentoring, various lunchtime series, Economics drop-in tutorials and the Library and Information Studies online community for supporting first year students.  Schools are welcome to contribute.  Contact Elena.gamble@ucd.ie or by telephone (01) 716 8610 for more information.
