New UCD Teaching Profiles 21.06.12

UCD Teaching & Learning has launched a Teaching Profile which is a re-design of the existing teaching tab of the Research Profiles System.  The tab has been redeveloped into an easily-used, structured electronic teaching profile.  This will be a companion to the existing research profile system and will allow UCD academics to create and maintain a concise online teaching portfolio.  Some information will automatically be populated into the teaching profiles from UCD’s curriculum management and student feedback systems.  Consistent with the research profile system, staff have the option to make parts of the teaching profile publicly viewable, as appropriate.

Key benefits of this development include:
1. New guidelines imbedded in the teaching profile which will assist academics in demonstrating sound, evidence-based achievements of their teaching, assessment and curriculum design
2. Greater integration between Teaching & Learning and Research
3. Improved sharing of teaching practice and innovation across the university
4. A familiar on-line system which allows academics to construct a concise teaching portfolio
5. Standardisation of Teaching & Learning applications for promotion; thus improving the efficiency and transparency of these processes for applicants and adjudicators.

This development has been carried out by UCD Teaching & Learning, funded by the Strategic Innovation Fund II under the Enhancement of Learning Strand and in cooperation with UCD Research, UCD HR and UCD IT Services.
