New Development Programme for Newly Appointed Assistant Professors 14.06.18

UCD Teaching and Learning is delighted to support a new programme for newly appointed assistant professors, currently being piloted in the College of Social Sciences and Law and the College of Science. The programme is sponsored by the respective College Principals and aims to provide a programme of supports enabling assistant professors develop into their role.  The programme will include opportunities to avail of mentoring within their school/college, along with a range of development activities, covering the three core areas of the Faculty Development Framework (Teaching and Learning; Research, Scholarship and Impact; Leadership and Contribution).

Participants on the programme will be encouraged to make connections and foster relationships within and beyond their college through networking events and other sessions dedicated to this group. UCD Teaching and Learning will offer bespoke ‘Lecturer Induction’ workshops in semester 1 and 2 next year, and strongly encourage newly appointed assistant professors to subsequently consider enrolling to one of our accredited programmes.
