The Charter for Inclusive Teaching and Learning has been designed to support HEIs in responding to the diversity challenge by sign-posting teaching and learning practices that work not only for students with disabilities but all students.
Nationally there are now over 5,000 students with a disability in higher education, or 4% of the total student population. While this truly is a great news story, it is also a new story as ten years ago these students did not benefit from higher education, whereas today they are not only taking part in higher education but research shows they are achieving the same 1st and 2nd class honours as other students.
AHEAD, the Association for Higher Education Access and Disability is a unique organisation that aims to promote inclusive teaching and learning practice in the higher education sector and provides information and training to academic and other staff within the sector.
