Richard Clutterbuck graduated from U.C.D. in 1998 with an M.Litt. in Archaeology. His thesis was on "The Settlement and Architecture of Later Medieval Slieveardagh, County Tipperary". Richard first encountered Farrenrory Tower-House during the course of field work for his thesis. The main aim of this article is to describe the architecture of the Tower-House and to discuss some ideas on its medieval context.
