Student UCARD and Photograph Upload Guide
Orientation 2012
Your UCD student card is your official identification card for the duration of your programme in UCD.
All students must now upload a photo on-line via SISWeb during registration.

If you're a returning UCD student, you will not have to queue for a new card in September. The student card you got last year is designed to last you for the duration of your programme in UCD.
To keep your card valid for 2012/13 all you need to do is register online when registration opens up for you and pay the minimum amount of fees you are required to pay for 2012/13. If you do not pay in time your card will be invalid and you will not, for example, be able to get into the Library.

Preparing your photo
When prompted, you will be able to browse your computer to find a suitable image file. This should be a .jpg file with a size of no more than 50Kb.
- To upload a photo please follow the Uploading a Photo guide
- For help on checking photo file size click here
- To Resize your photo and reduce the file size you can use an online cropping tool such as Photo Resizer (http://www.webresizer.com/resizer/)
The image should be taken in colour and show your full head with your eyes open and clearly visible (with no sunglasses, tinted glasses or hair across your face). You should be face fronting and looking directly into the camera. Your head and/or face should not be covered unless this is for religious or medical reasons. There should be no other person in the photograph. You will have the opportunity to confirm that the image is correct before sending this to the University. If you wear glasses please ensure the photo is free from reflection or glare on your glasses and the frames should not cover your eyes. See below for sample does and don’ts for your photos.
