UCD in the Community invites all staff members to become more involved in the community by offering their knowledge and expertise to benefit others. This goal is in line with the IUA Campus Engage programme. Campus Engage was established to promote civic and community engagement as a core function of Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) across Ireland, by better enabling HEI staff and students to engage with their local communities. There are four main components of the promotion of civic engagement - community or service-based learning and research, engaged research, student volunteering and metrics and evaluation.
UCD in the Community encourages staff to become more involved within the community, through volunteering on or off campus, or engaging with community-based organisations on a more frequent basis, such as through research. If you have an idea for a project involving a community-based organisation and would like to discuss this further, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone 01 716 2409.
