New Campus Garda Office opened
A new Campus Garda Office has been officially opened by the Registrar, Dr Caroline Hussey, in the John Henry Newman Building. The office will operate in addition to the existing one based in the Biology Building and is located beside the Arts Services Desk. The initiative means that the Campus Garda Service will now be available each weekday during the lunchtime period, from 1.30 to 2.30pm. The Community Garda officers will be on hand to answer any general queries and to provide advice on personal safety and security both on and off campus. They will also provide and help process forms such as applications for grants, passports, driving licences and Morrison Visas. The reception to launch the extended service was attended by Superintendent Patrick OConnor and by Sgt Andy Keegan, the head of the community section in E District, which includes the Belfield Campus. Also there were Garda Niall Burke and Sgt Andy Keegan who will operate the service in both areas of the Campus. The service comes under the banner of UNICARE, which is an initiative of the Buildings & Services Department.
