Glenomena Residences are
the latest addition to student accommodation at UCD Belfield.
The buildings, currently under construction, are situated
between the current Merville Residences and the
Chaplaincy.
The apartments are particularly aimed at
post-graduate students throughout the College, including The
Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business at Blackrock.
The unique option at Glenomena Residences is that
students can opt to stay for the summer months.
Meeting
the needs of the modern student has been part the mission at
Glenomena Residences and embracing technology is central to
this focus. Each apartment building is linked with the latest
in ‘wireless’ computer networking which makes it ideal for using
laptop computers, providing access to the College
online services and the wider world at any time.
Every
apartment consists of six bedrooms, each with ensuite facility.
Bedrooms are fitted with workstations. Each apartment contains
a generously sized living area and kitchen/dining space fitted
out with the highest quality materials.
The apartments are
within easy access to all campus restaurants, libraries, student
clubs, shops, health services, bank and post office.
There will be 24- hour
campus security for the residences.
Application forms are
available from 1 May 2002 from of the UCD Resident Reception
Offices. Completed forms, including passport size photograph
and relevant deposit , should arrive at the Resident's
Office, Glenomena Student Residences, UCD, field, Dublin
4, no later than Wednesday 31 July 2002.
Successful
applicants will be notified by letter week beginning 5
August 2002. Students who wish to stay for the summer term must
indicate this as part of their initial
application. Unsuccessful applicants will be refunded their
deposit by the end of August.
" This year we
will have 270 rooms available from September, " says
Suzanne Shorten, Glenomena Residence manager. "There will
be 550 rooms by September 2003."
Glenomena Residences
were designed by architects Burke Kennedy Doyle, to a brief
prepared by the Buildings Office in
consultation with Tony Nichol, administrator of the Student
Residences Office.
