Presentation to New ERA Programme 

Áine Galvin, New ERA Coordinator accepts chequeÁine Galvin, New ERA Coordinator receives a cheque from Joy Wheeler (right) on behalf of the UCD Women Graduates’ Association. The money represented the proceeds of a bridge evening in aid of the Equal Rights to Access Programme.

 

Science Poster Competition

Hannah Prichard-Ellis of St Michael's NS, Limerick, with Professor Ben Kennedy, dean of the Faculty of Science at UCD; Stan Mason, Chairman of sponsors Mason Technology Limited; and Joe Noonan- Ganley of St Joseph's Secondary School, Tulla, Co Clare; pictured at the presentation of prizes at the Science in Our Lives poster competition in May organised by Irish Universities Promoting Science. Hannah was the winner in the primary school category and Joe won the secondary school section. Each received a Fuji Digital camera and an Iktnoys NUC0D Digital Microscope for their school. Stan Mason presented the prizes.

(Top) Triona Dooney's parents John and Kathleen Dooney (centre) with Dr Don Thornhill, Chairman of the HEA, and Professor Boyd Jones, dean of Veterinary Medicine, at the unveiling of a plaque by the President, Dr Cosgrove (above), to mark Triona's contribution to the construction of the Veterinary School and Hospital in Belfield. Triona, a member of staff of the HEA was involved from the planning stages of this facility and sadly died in June 2001 before the building reached completion.
