Ovaries:
small so not usually seen
on radiographs. If enlarged, a mass may be apparent caudal to the kidney
on the DV view or in the centre of the abdomen on the lateral projection.
If the ovaries become significantly enlarged the ligamentous attachment
may be stretched and they appear more ventral.
MALE
Prostate:
It is difficult to see prostate
enlargement on a VD view because it is summated with the rectum, which
often contains faeces. The lateral view shows a clearer image. Dorsal displacement
of the colon can indicate prostatic enlargement. The bladder will not displace
the colon.
Sublumbar
lymph node
Located at the termination
of the aorta in the caudodorsal abdomen. Enlargement of these lymph nodes
will result in ventral displacement of the colon.
