Qualifications:
- Technician’s diploma, Applied Biology
- MSc Biochemistry and Microbiology
Lab Based Skills:
- Protein/peptide biochemistry: making up solutions, colorimetry assays.
- Microscopy, histology/assist in histological tissue processing.
- Microbiology: growing a wide range of microorganisms and carrying out antibacterial assays.
- Tissue culture and some molecular biology.
- Diagnostic laboratory support in the Veterinary Hospital.
Teaching Support:
- Preparing and demonstrating at all 1st and 2nd year veterinary biochemistry practical classes.
- In charge of stock control for all biochemistry practical classes.
- Provision of practical support to the summer student microbiology class.
- Invigilation at exams when required (including nursing exams).
