Fiona O' Brien, M.V.B., was awarded the annual Interchem Ireland Ltd. Bursary Award prize at the conferring of degrees in Veterinary Medicine.

This was the fourth year of the prize. The following is a summary of the award winning case as presented by Fiona.

"As part of the emergency rotation we were presented with a 4 year cavalier King Charles with icterus, which prompted an investigation into the pre hepatic, hepatic and post hepatic reasons for icterus. The presentation also included the diagnosis, treatment and management of icterus depending on the underlying cause."

Fiona is from Waterford city. Her interests within veterinary lie firmly within mixed practice. She is looking to get practical experience before making any decisions about specialising.

We recognise the great work that is being done by the veterinary faculty in University College Dublin and are delighted to be associated in partnership by making a contribution as proud sponsors of this bursary, added Oliver Dillon of Interchem.
