David O’Connor Memorial Meal Winner
This award commemorates David O’Connor, a 1994 Veterinary Medicine graduate, who died suddenly after football training within a year of qualifying as a Vet. David was heavily involved with gaelic football, soccer and rugby at club (Abbeyfeale) and University level. His enthusiasm, commitment and legendary event management skills are some of the qualities this award aims to enshrine.
This years recipient is athlete Niamh Field who has represented UCD in both 400 metres and the sprint relay this year. Indeed Niamh won the Colours 400m event and was a member of the silver medal winning 4 X 400 team at the Outdoor Track & Field University Championships. A dedicated club member she never misses training and provides great support to other athletes in the club.
Given her achievements and enthusiastic dedication to her sport and studies, Niamh is a worthy recipient of this award.
