New Clinical Skills Laboratory – Fundraising Appeal
In September of this year the new UCD School of Veterinary Medicine will be launched. To ensure that it remains as one of the leading schools in Europe, we need to commission a Clinical Skills Laboratory. This laboratory will ensure that our graduates receive the best possible preparation for their future as veterinary practitioners and veterinary nurses. We are currently seeking support for this exciting new project.
The new Laboratory will allow our students to perfect and practice clinical and psychomotor skills relevant to veterinary practice, in a setting free from the normal pressures of a busy hospital or practice. It will be available for “wetlab” continuing education events, and UCD’s ongoing research and development work in veterinary education will also benefit.
Any gift, single or regular, would be grateful received and will make a big difference to the School:
· Gifts of €21 per month or €250 per year for four years will enable us provide a computer and software to link heart-sounds, ECG records and other clinical data to animal mannikins
· Gifts of €30 will provide a kit for early surgical skills training, while €50 will allow us to set up an OSCE station to enable students practice their clinical skills for formative assessment
· Gifts of €40 per month or €500 per year for four years will provide a dog or cat manikin for training in critical care, intravenous access, endotracheal tube placement, auscultation of heart sounds and respiration.
· Gifts of €100 per month or €1,250 per year for four years will provide plastinated models of equine limbs to demonstrate sites of nerve blocks
We would greatly appreciate your continued support of the School by donating to this project. Our current students are extremely enthusiastic about veterinary medicine and we want to ensure that UCD School of Veterinary Medicine continues to produce world-class, highly skilled and talented graduates.
