UCD Women's Soccer Club is affiliated with the Athletic Union Council in UCD, the Irish Student's Sports Association, the Women's Soccer Colleges Association of Ireland, the Dublin Women's Soccer League, the Women's Football Association of Ireland and the FAI.

It is one of the oldest and leading women's soccer clubs in Ireland and similar to its male counterparts, UCD women's club is the only University club in Western Europe that currently competes in both national club and university competition.

Originally founded in 1966, UCD Women's Soccer club consists of the college team that participates in WSCAI competitions during the academic year and the National League team which participates in the DWSL and WFAI competitions throughout the summer.

The club played its first game in 1967 according to Professor Meenan's History of UCD Sport. Although there were games in the seventies, the next recorded women's soccer activities occurred in the early eighties where UCD were to the forefront in the Inaugural Women's Soccer Intervarsity Cup. UCD were beaten finalists in the first Intervarsity Cup in 1983 and also beaten finalists the following year. The late eighties were a relatively quiet period considering the successes that were to follow, despite the coaching skills of prominent League of Ireland players.

1991 saw the revival of UCD Women's soccer club as a force in college competition. The club rejoined the colleges league, were promoted to the Premier Division in their first season and have competed at that level ever since. The club won its first Colleges Premier Division title in 1994/95 in some style with a 100% record and without conceding a goal all season. The club were double title holders that year, also winning the Intervarsity Cup for the first time. The double was again completed in 1996/97 with League, Intervarsity Cup and Galway Plate added to the trophy cabinet. The league title was retained the following year and reclaimed in 2002/03, along with victories in the WSCAI Indoor Intervarsities and the Intervarsity Plate.
