The Advanced Optical Imaging Group explores new and classical phenomena of optics and photonics. The research is focussed on the development of biomedical imaging and analysis technologies for life sciences and visual optics. In one of our labs the research is centred on visual optics and photonics of the human eye in relation to vision whereas our other lab explores new optical imaging and contrast methodologies directed towards the nanoscale. Technologies include confocal optical microscopy, adaptive optics, scanning laser ophthalmoscopes, scanning near-field optical microscopy, multiphoton microscopy and ultrafast lasers.
