Shaping Living and Learning Project

Better enabling students shape their UCD Environment to their individual needs

The Student Perspective, not differentiating between the living and learning experience, highlights students’ desire to shape their UCD environment. This overarches our students’ entire living and learning experience in UCD and is rooted in the necessity for the University to understand students’ behaviours and primary needs before delivering solutions.  There is such a shifting variety to our students that helping them to self-configure is more practical than UCD trying to reconfigure.

This project aims to better enable students to shape their own living and learning environment, with support for their basic needs, in an environment which makes it easy for them to navigate what is available to them.

The desired outcomes for this project are:

  • Concretely respond (action/communication) to the students’ needs that are not currently met by the services and facilities UCD make available to them
  • Students enabled to make the best use of existing services and facilities to meet their needs
  • A mechanism provided for student input to discussions regarding the UCD ecosystem

These outcomes will be achieved through developing a better understanding of:

  • The need students have of University services and facilities and how those needs align with what is available to them
