Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2019

Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2019

UCD Access & Lifelong Learning (ALL) took part in Global Accessibility Awareness Day on 16 May 2019. This was the only event which took place in Ireland and once again a spotlight was put on the importance of digital accessibility.

The launch of GAAD 2019 was officiated by Professor Grace Mulcahy, Chair, UCD Widening Participation Committee and included the launch of a number of online resources, including videos and mini masterclasses on digital accessibility.

ALL produced a number of videos on the importance of digital accessibility. These videos incorporated UCD staff and graduates, focusing on a variety of areas including assistive technology, the learning platform Brightspace and the wider benefits of digital accessibility for everyone.

ALL’s Inclusive Education Coordinator, Dr Lisa Padden designed a series of mini masterclasses which focused on creating accessible digital content including documents accessible, accessible websites, videos and Powerpoints.

The event hosted in the ALL Centre and all were welcome to attend.
