Scope and Content

John Daly rose to the rank of District Inspector in the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC). This collection contains some of his RIC records including medical and service records where John Daly was 'awarded a I.F.R. for good duty in an action against rebels in an ambush at Pointstown Kilcooly on 24.1.21' and also letter from an old colleague catching up on mutual acquaintances. Also contains documentation regarding the RIC Pension including contribution slips, certificate, correspondence with the Home Office, London and two publications on the terms of disbandment of the RIC.

Includes personal and legal documents: accounts and map of the property relating to the purchase of the house 'Cranbrooke' on Westfield Road, Rathgar, Dublin; correspondence with relatives in Charlestown and Dorchester, Massachusetts, America; financial records regarding buying stock and inheritance, Marriage and Death Certificates of John Daly and postcards from Skibbereen, County Cork and Patrick Street, Cork.
