The Museum of August Destiny

4 November 2016-8 January 2017, Pearse Museum (OPW), St Enda's Park, Rathfarnham.

Featuring artists Aideen Barry, Mark Clare, Amanda Coogan, Anthony Haughey, Dragana Jurisic, and Sarah Pierce, 'The Museum of August Destiny' has been curated by Dr Emily Mark-FitzGerald.

The exhibition features six new commissioned works which offer reflections on the Irish state and the 'august destiny' envisioned by the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. Housed within The Pearse Museum's display cases, the six artworks invite reflection on the act of commemoration itself and its industries, and declares its own vision of a past aimed at future publics.

Initiated & first displayed by Lismore Castle Arts, Co Waterford, the exhibition at The Pearse Museum is supported by the UCD Decade of Centenaries Programme.
