Irish Museums Survey 2016

The Irish Museums Survey 2016 (IMA/UCD) will be launched on Wednesday, 30 November 2016 by Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys TD.

The Irish Museums Survey 2016 is a joint research project developed by the Irish Museums Association and School of Art History and Cultural Policy, University College Dublin, funded under the Engaging Civic Society Strand of the New Foundations Award by the Irish Research Council. This survey is the first time in over a decade that a comprehensive survey of Irish museums has taken place and is unprecedented in terms of its scale and ambition, providing an important benchmark of information on the heritage and museum sector on the island of Ireland.

The launch will be followed by a series of short talks:
Dr Emily Mark-FitzGerald, Lecturer, School of Art History and Cultural Policy, University College Dublin: Findings from the Irish Museums Survey 2016
Eithne Verling, Director, Galway City Museum: Museums and their role in tourism
