BDIC class of 2012 graduation ceremony

July 4, 2016

2016 will go down as a very special year in the history of BDIC. In July, the first group of students to enter the College back in 2012 finally graduated. The significance of the event was indicated by the list of guests in attendance, which included senior officials from the Beijing Municipal Government, the Irish ambassador to China and the Presidents of both BJUT and UCD, as well as several senior academics from both institutions and many of the student's parents. Students were presented with degree certificates from both BJUT and UCD and the keynote address was delivered by the Ambassador, who also hosted the student at a reception later in the afternoon at the Irish Embassy.

The BDIC class of 2012 will always be thought of a particularly special group of students. When they made the decision to join BDIC in 2012, the College had just started and they were the first ones to join. By the start of the 2015/16 academic year, the BDIC student body had grown to almost 700 students, in three programmes (this has since risen to over 1,000), and the efforts of the class of 2012 have played a big part in this.
