Process Analytical Technology

Innovative solutions for quality and safety improvement in dairy ingredient manufacture for infant formula.

Researcher: Lisa Henihan

UCD and Teagasc are undertaking a joint project under a Walsh fellowship additionally funded by Food Institutional Research Measure (FIRM) to develop process analytical technologies (PAT) using innovative applications of several vibrational spectroscopic tools such as front-face fluorescence for the analysis of dairy powders and more specifically infant formulas, as a method for monitoring quality and to help with compliance to the highest quality and safety standards.
