Our Research

UCD CAR is a translational research lab, with rheumatologists, clinical fellows, research nurses, biomedical scientists and computational biologists.

We aim to discover and characterize new disease mechanisms, with a focus on rheumatoid arthritis.  Next-generation patient population sequencing is used to identify molecules associated with disease or treatment response. Next, we use molecular and cellular biology to characterize each molecule's role in joint function or disease.

Finally, we look at new strategies to target these molecules, to develop new treatments or to find new ways of stratifying patients so that each patient gets the correct treatment for them.
