Compassion
‘To love and serve in all things’ would be an appropriate motto for our chaplaincy service, but also for all women and men of good will.

Chaplains and students share concern for the needy in our society and in our world. UCDVO was founded by the chaplains and it now involves hundreds of UCD students in a variety of projects abroad (South America, Haiti, India, Africa, etc.).
The chaplains also work with students in UCDSVP (UCD St. Vincent de Paul Society), offering financial assistance to students who find themselves in urgent and critical need.
Chaplains run an annual Camino de Compostela pilgrimage walk to raise money for the Fr. Peter McVerry Trust, which was set up to help homeless boys in Dublin. This year, the Camino group raised €15,000 for this charity.
The Newman Society has taken for its ‘charity of the year’ the Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin.
All funds raised by the Newman Society will be offered in support of the work of the Centre.
Societies with a concern for social justice have always used our facilities at St. Stephen’s.
