Biography: Professor Mohamed Al-Rubeai graduated from the University of Baghdad
in 1969 and obtained his PhD in Genetics from QMC, University of
London in 1979. Immediately after receiving his PhD he joined the
University of Garyounis as a lecturer in Biology. He returned to
the UK to work as a research fellow at the university of Surrey.
He moved to the University of Birmingham in 1988 and was appointed
to the Chair of Biotechnology in 2001. In 2005 he moved to University
College Dublin to take up the newly established Chair of Biochemical
Engineering. Professor Al-Rubeai is the recipient of an SFI Investigator
award to direct an initiative within the Department on animal cell
and tissue biotechnology through the establishment of a Centre
for Biochemical Engineering Research.
