Co-designing for Resilience in Rural Development through Peer-to-peer Learning Networks and STEAM Place-based Learning Interventions

Learning Planet Institute, in collaboration with the Aga Khan Foundation and Teach For All, proudly spearheads the Teachers for the Planet Programme. This initiative stands as a catalyst for action, forging explicit and concrete links between the education and climate change sectors. With a focus on real impact at both school and system levels, the program yields tangible outputs that position education actors as leaders in climate action.

Teachers for the Planet is delighted to announce the selection of SMARTlab Skelligs - Future Focus21c's climate change education solution, Muinín Catalyst Sustainable STEAM, as one of 100 outstanding education solutions. These solutions will take center stage in an online repository set to launch on the 8th of December at the RewirED Summit during the Global Climate Change Conference (COP28). The repository, accessible at (opens in a new window)https://teachersfortheplanet.org/, will serve as a valuable resource for educators, policymakers, and climate advocates seeking effective solutions to integrate climate change education into curricula.

The calibre of the received solutions for the Teachers for the Planet Programme was exceptionally high, and SMARTlab Skelligs - Future Focus21c is warmly congratulated on being selected as part of this prestigious group. This recognition underscores SMARTlab Skelligs - Future Focus21c's commitment to addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change through innovative education solutions. As part of this global initiative, Muinín Catalyst Sustainable STEAM is poised to make a significant contribution to shaping the future of climate change education and inspiring positive action.

The programmes SMARTlab Skelligs is a host research organisation for UCD, and a satellite of SMARTlab UCD and the Inclusive Design Research Centre of Ireland. The team Dr Jessica Garska, Dr Anita McKeown and Rebecca White with Professor Lizbeth Goodman, chair of Creative Technology Innovation, School of Material and Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering and Architecture, are funded through the Discover programme, Science Foundation Ireland and Department of Education, Ireland and a team of external experts.
