Getting to Dublin and UCD

Flights in to Dublin

Dublin International airport is 10km to the north of Dublin. It is well connected with cities across Europe and beyond.

Bus

The simplest way to reach UCD is using the Aircoach bus service from Dublin Airport to UCD (for this you should get on the Leopardstown / Sandyford bus). This journey takes approximately 45mins and costs 8 euro one-way

There are frequent connecting buses from the airport to the city centre, including Aircoach and the Dublin Bus Airlink which brings passengers directly to Central Bus Station, Dublin (Busáras).

Taxi

A taxi from the airport to UCD will take roughly the same time as the Aircoach. Expect to pay approximately 30euro for a single journey.

Train

There is no train service to Dublin airport.

Walk

It takes approximately 1hr to walk from UCD in to the city centre. The city centre itself is relatively small and easy to walk around.

Bike

Bicycle is a great way to get around Dublin (http://dublincitycycling.ie/). The Dublin bikes scheme http://www.dublinbikes.ie/ has bikes for rent all across the city. They can be hired for 30mins or several days. The Dublin bike scheme does not have a bike station on the main UCD campus at present. However, if you are thinking of cycling University College Dublin is approximately a 15 minute cycle ride from the city centre.

Bus

There are frequent buses from UCD in to the city centre (routes 39a, 46a and 145). The 39a bus terminates at UCD, the 46a and 145 buses stop outside the main UCD gates (make sure you get off). leap card image

We recommend that you purchase a LeapCard which will give you cheap fares and no need to carry lots of coins. Dublin buses do not give change.
