Culture & Engagement Survey 2016

Thursday, 20 April, 2017

The UCD Culture & Engagement Survey has now closed, results have been processed by Willis Towers Watson and action planning is well underway. By providing valuable insights into UCD’s current culture and environment, your contributions will assist in the development of localised action plans across UCD. We would like to say a big thank you to all who participated by sharing their thoughts and opinions about working in UCD, and for helping identify potential areas that can be improved. To give time for the implementation of these action plans and for the improvements identified to be made across University, Colleges/VP areas and Schools/Units it has been decided to hold the next full Culture and Engagement Survey in September 2018.

Our Partners

Following a public tendering process, Willis Towers Watson (WTW) were retained to design and conduct the survey. WTW bring over 40 years of experience conducting employee engagement surveys globally and have particular experience within complex organisations (e.g. An Post, Dublin Airport Authority) and in the education sector (e.g. Universitas 21 Member, University of Auckland). They also maintain a significant database of employee benchmark data, against which we have been able to benchmark UCD’s survey results.

The Process

Beginning June 2016, the project team engaged in an extensive consultation process around the survey design. The survey opened on Wednesday, 28th September, supported by an awareness campaign to encourage maximum participation. Once the survey closed on the 28th of October, there was a period of analysis and reports have now been made available across many areas of UCD depending on participation of individual units. The detail of such reports will enable university-wide and local action plans to be developed in response to any significant issues that may be raised.

It is planned that the process will then be repeated annually to measure the impact and effectiveness of our action plans, with the express intention of achieving continuous improvement in the university’s efforts to develop the best interventions that support the growth, development and retention of the members of our UCD community.
