Jean Hogan (1984-2020)

It is with great sadness that we report the death of a gifted school alumnus, Jean Hogan on the 31st December, 2020. Jean was a talented and dedicated student and joined UCD in 2005 to pursue a degree in English. All her tutors and lecturers recall with great affection and admiration Jean’s wit and intellectual acuity. She was a naturally gifted researcher who pursued her studies with passion. Following a stellar undergraduate performance, Jean continued to excel in her postgraduate studies, gaining an MA in Renaissance Literature and Culture in 2014 . Jean’s commitment to life, study, friends and political discussion was cruelly challenged by periods of extreme ill health. This year Jean was due to complete an MA in Philosophy at UCD.

Jean left an indelible imprint on our School and her community at UCD. We offer her parents, Tom and Ger (and her family) our most heartfelt condolences.

The peace I am thinking of is the dance of an open mind
when it engages another equally open one.
