Call for New Members: UCD Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Subgroups and EDI Employee Networks

UCD is committed to supporting diversity, equality and inclusion (EDI) in the University. If you would like to become involved in EDI initiatives and contributing to positive change for everyone, consider becoming a member of UCD’s EDI Subgroups and engaging with our UCD EDI Employee Networks by completing an expression of interest form for any of sub-groups or networks that you are in joining below. Further information on EDI initiatives can be found on the EDI website and in our EDI Annual Reports.

Please ensure that you discuss participation on this group with your line manager in advance of submitting an expression of interest due to the time commitment involved in being on a sub-group including attending meetings and supporting the implementation of initiatives. Sub-groups will normally meet on a quarterly basis.

The Gender Equality Action Group membership was renewed in September 2020. Commitments were made in the Gender Equality Action Plan 2020 – 2024 to ensure a diverse membership from all backgrounds, disciplines, employee categories and student representation. We are currently inviting expressions of interest from UCD employees to join this Group to represent the following categories which are currently under-represented on the group:

  • Ethnic Minorities
  • Researchers
  • Technical Officers
  • Head of School/Dean/Chair of Governing Board

Consideration will also be given to gender balance to meet the Gender Balance on Committees requirements.

UCD is launching its inaugural University level UCD Neurodiversity Working Group and seeking members to join the group. Members of this group will play a vital role in better understanding UCD’s campus climate in relation to neurodiversity and to make recommendations and progress actions that aim to make UCD an equitable, supportive and neurodiversity friendly environment for all in which to study and work.

This group will be Chaired by Dr Blánaid Gavin UCD School of Medicine, who will sit on the UMT Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Subgroup. 

We welcome expressions of interest from UCD employees from all backgrounds to join the Neurodiversity Working Group.

UCD is seeking members to continue the progressive work of the UCD LGBTI Subgroup to date an  join the group. Members of this group will play a vital role in strategically supporting LGBTI inclusion in UCD and to make recommendations and progress actions that aim to make UCD an equitable, supportive and LGBTI friendly environment to work and study.

This group will be Chaired by Dr Niamh Nestor, UCD Student Advisers and Dr Paul D’Alton, UCD School of Psychology, who will sit on the UMT Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Subgroup. 

We welcome expressions of interest from UCD employees from all backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities to join the LGBTI Subgroup.

Members of this group will play a vital role in strategically supporting Disability inclusion in UCD and to make recommendations and progress actions that aim to make UCD an equitable, supportive and inclusive environment to work and study for people with a disability.

This group will be Chaired by Dr Deirdre O’Connor, UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science, who will sit on the UMT Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Subgroup. 

We welcome expressions of interest from UCD employees from all backgrounds to join the Disability Subgroup.
