Travel Insurance
All University faculty and staff travelling for under twelve weeks within the European Union on approved University business are automatically covered by the University's travel and accident insurance policies. It is recommended however that staff contact the University SIRC Office (Safety, Insurance, Operational Risk and Compliance) at insurance@ucd.ie to obtain details on the level of cover and policy exclusions if they have not done previously done so in the current calendar year. Longer duration travel must be notified to the University SIRC Office in advance to arrange adequate insurance cover.
All travel outside the European Union must be notified to the University SIRC Office in advance to arrange adequate travel insurance cover. Persons planning to travel outside the European Union should consult the Department of Foreign Affairs website and the British Foreign Office website to ensure there are no recommended travel restrictions in place for their planned destinations. Travel to areas subject to official government travel advisories may void all travel insurance policies.
Further information is available from the UCD SIRC website.
The University does not reimburse the cost of either personal single trip or annual travel insurance policies.
