Two Institute Students Shortlisted for Prestigious International Award

Wednesday 3rd February 2016

Congratulations to Aoibheann McMorrow and Claire Lyons who have been nominated as finalists for the American Society for Nutrition's 'Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science' Award. This award  recognizes the highest quality research submitted to the American Society for Nutrition Annual Meeting, which will take place as part of the Experimental Biology conference to be held in San Diego in April. This is a fantastic achievement for these two young researchers given that there were over 1,000 abstracts from all across the globe submitted for the event.

The title of Aoibheann's presentation will be "Obesity and dietary fat modulate HDL function in adolescents: results from a cross-sectional analysis and a randomized, placebo-controlled, cross-over trial'. While Claire's abstract is entitled 'Monounsaturared fatty acids impede inflammation partially through activation of AMPK'. The two students are part of the Institute's Nutrigenomics Research Group led by Prof Helen Roche.
