As a Geary Fellow, you will benefit from extensive research and event support policies, fostering both academic and professional growth.

Fellows are expected to play an active role within the Institute in terms of supervising Ph.D students and organising research activities such as seminars, symposia and workshops to stimulate discussion and interaction between them, Ph.D students and visitors.

About the Institute

The UCD Geary Institute is a centre of excellence for policy-relevant, theoretically-informed, empirically-grounded research.  The Institute supports research in empirical social and behavioural sciences within organised themes and research centres, and brings together researchers to stimulate discussion on theories, methodologies and empirical results.  The main disciplines at Geary include: Demography, Economics, Education, Law, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology. The Institute complements and extends the core research expertise of UCD Schools and Institutes interwoven with international and national partnerships.  

Criteria for Geary Membership:

  • Alignment of research interests with the Geary mission.
  • Record of excellence in research and publication.
  • Evidence-based contribution to policy formation and public debate.
