“My joint honours BA in English and French at UCD (1987-90) is the foundation on which my whole writing career has been built. I have particularly vivid memories of staging my first plays at DramSoc, as well as taking inspirational courses in critical theory and film. UCD and the people I met there opened my mind and bolstered my confidence. Whether setting my first novel (STIRFRY) at UCD, or undertaking literary histories that roam from medieval to modern texts, or writing fiction, drama and film set in a wide range of space (France to California) and time (eighteenth- to twenty-first century), I find I have drawn and continue to draw on my UCD years.”

“I have great memories when I think back to my days at UCD, both as a Post-Graduate as well as an Undergraduate, surrounded by world class academics and research and having the opportunity to be a part of that.”
“When I think about my days at UCD I realize that it gave me the opportunity to learn how to learn and to apply myself to any problem, no matter how daunting.”
