Compassionate Leave Policy

Compassionate Leave may be granted to provide staff with time away from work at a time of personal or family need, especially when there is a death in the family. 

Leave with pay will be available on the death of an immediate relative (spouse, civil partner, mother, father, sister, brother, child, mother-in- law, father-in-law) for a maximum of three days.

Process for Compassionate Leave

All arrangements for compassionate leave should be agreed directly with the Head of School/Unit.

Employee Assistance Service

The UCD (EAS) is a 24/7 free and confidential support service designed to assist you in dealing more effectively with any personal or work-related problems you might be facing.
