A Comparative Analysis of the Notions of Freedom and Imagination in Martin Heidegger and Edward Bond (provisional title)

Overarching aim of my PhD research project is to use a Heideggerian vocabulary to interpret the philosophically loaded devices found in Edward Bond’s drama theory. I am focusing in particular on the notions of freedom and imagination in the two accounts. I ultimately investigate the potential of Heidegger’s earlier work to provide a framework to better understand (a) how philosophy is enacted, (b) the ontology of drama, and (c) the phenomenology of performance.
