Environment and Global Histories

This theme addresses the geographical and geo-political scales of social, cultural, and historical change, and especially focuses attention on sub-national and trans-national research. These issues of scale have been particularly important in recent innovations in humanities research, and most keenly in response to societal challenges focused on environment and globalisation. Research activities organised under this theme address the histories and futures of ecological thought, the global scale of historical events, understanding world systems, and interrogating the relations between local, national and global scales of social, cultural and political experience.
