and will be held in the

UNITED ARTS CLUB
3 Upper FitzWilliam Street
Dublin 2.
(very near Baggot Street)




The season starts off with an afternoon event:

Barbecue

Annual Barbecue


The Irish-Chinese Cultural Soeiety will host their annual Barbecue on Sunday September 7th.

Time:   2.30pm.
Venue:  5 Claremont Road (beside Sandymount Green),
              Sandymount, Dublin 4.



Norman & Anita O'Galligan have kindly permitted the use of their garden for this enjoyable event.
Members are welcome to bring friends.
Members bring their own food and drinks.

We will be inviting the Chinese Ambassador and the staff of the Embassy, and some of the members of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association, so this could again provide an enjoyable chance to meet some of our Chinese friends.

The Society will provide charcoal and some cook­ing stoves, but additional barbecue cookers are welcome. Please contact the Hon. Secretary if you intend to bring a cooker.

A Year in China Can Change Your Life!

A talk by Sharon Keilthy.

Sharon spent a year living in a remote city in Northern China. She was looked after by a Chinese family, she learnt to speak Chinese, and now runs a successful business in Language and Cultural training here in Dublin.

An Evening of ChineseMusic

This will be an opportunity to sample and enjoy tradi­tional Chinese music and song, performed, using classic Chinese instruments, by some of the talented Chinese musicians that we are fortunate to have in Ireland today.

Chinese Folk Art & Toys

A talk by Anita Tatlow, with slides and examples.

Few people in the West know more about Oriental folk art and toys than Anita Tatlow, connoisseur and collector.
Tonight she will introduce us to this beguiling realm, with illustrations from her own collection.

Our annual test of knowledge, on matters (mostly) Chinese.

This is a table team test and a great social and fun event, topped off with our traditional tea/coffee and mince pies.
